Vision
To bring back intention, ethics, durability, and longevity into everyday clothing that creates value for wearers, creators, and the environment.
Values
Oak Apple Goods was founded on the ideals of environmental conservationism, sustainability, fair labor practices, slow fashion, and the renewal of the American cottage industry. All items are built to last, and we will gladly repair or replace any damaged items.
Sustainability
Such a buzzword these days, right? What is sustainability? To us, sustainability means structuring and operating in a way that will bring long-term benefit and value to the company - its employees, customers, suppliers, stakeholders; and the world without which nothing would be possible.
Environmental Stewardship
Oak Apple Goods was founded by an imperfect, zero-waste, tree-hugging hiker, camper, permaculturist, minimalist, mycophile. These interests and values have been fully instilled into the Oak Apple Goods ethos and everything we do at h clothing co. This is why we use only natural fabrics, dyes, threads, and sustainably & ethically sourced notions.
Transparency
Transparency is something we need from our businesses now more than ever. For this reason, we pledge to make h clothing co's financial statements, non-profit partners, and environmental impact public and easily accessible at all times.
Fairness
All products are made fair trade from ethically sourced fabrics.
Quality
Product and service quality is vastly important to us. We want you to be 100% satisfied with the products you purchase from us, which is why we offer free replacements on new items you aren't happy with, as well as lifetime free repairs on all items.
Hello! My name is Alex Jackson, I am the founder, owner, designer, and sewist at h clothing co. My journey with environmentalism started young. My relationship with the outdoors started very early. Growing up all over the US allowed me to experience many different environments - the gulf coast, the Atlantic ocean, the plains of the midwest, the rocky mountains, etc.
The natural world has always fascinated me, how things work together on levels within organisms and without, economies of scale on biological and sociological levels. I got my bachelor's in business from Creighton University and immediately upon graduation went to work as a business analyst for a major mortgage insurance company. As a life long learner, I also threw myself into my ever-changing hobbies. Automotive wrenching and racing, hiking, camping, leatherworking, gardening, etc. In 2019, while still working, I decided to go back to school for my MBA in Sustainability and Analytics.
At the time, I had just finished reading Yvon Chouinard's Let My People Go Surfing and decided to continue doing more research on the fashion industry. My eyes were opened to shocking levels of human rights violations, waste, greed, impudence, and destruction. After my introduction to Minimalism (thank you, Matt D'Avella & The Minimalists) and a number of other very influential books including Fibershed by Rebecca Burgess, American Hemp Farmer: Adventures and Misadventures in the Cannabis Trade by Doug Fine, and Overdressed: The Shockingly High Cost of Cheap Fashion by Elizabeth Cline - I decided that I'd give a shot making my own clothes. I sewed my first shirt in 2020 and have been sewing non stop ever since.
